خار پاشنه یکی از بیماریهای شایع در سنین 40 تا 60 سالگی می باشد. علت این بیماری هنوز شناخته نشده ولی غالباً در رادیوگرافی جانبی از پاشنه وجود برجستگی استخوانی در محل اتصال لیگامان کف پایی با استخوان پاشنه مشهود است.
وجود درد و حساسیت در نقطهای از پاشنه بر اثر فشار و تحمل وزن ایجاد می شود از علائم این عارضه بوده که معمولا بین 6 تا 12 ماه به طول می انجامد.
